For many applications the design of a channel or channels where liquid fluid flows is very important. Valves, flaps or sluices can be included in such an investigation. This allows to compute the pressure drop, the recirculation zone, the interaction between the liquid and the gaseous fluid and the flow structure.
The following example shows water flowing through a vessel/channel combination which allows to verify the design. The video shows the transient behaviour of the water where the volume fraction of water is shown. If the volume fraction of water equals 1 pure water is observed. If the volume fraction of water equals 0 pure air is observed. A mixture of water and air can be seen between 0 and 1.
The video shows the flow field for two different inflow velocities as an example.
